CASA IN TOSCANA® is owned and led by Nikolaus Barnewitz, a second generation resident, a German national whose family built a beautiful house on the perch of a high hill near Castellina in Chianti many years ago. Second to the cosmopolitan perspective of a foreing resident, that uniquely matches that of our clients, practical local knowledge is of paramount importance.

As in all things Italian, the lay of the land has it's complex and sometimes ennervating peculiarities. So it's a good thing to have some one next to you who has seen it all, has your same background, and knows how to get things done.
And, if you speak English, German or French, it's nice to have your introductions made by someone fluent in all three, besides, of course, the essential Italian.

She was born in Florence and she has been working for CASA IN TOSCANA® since 2005. Graduate in Linguistic and Cultural Mediation at the Università per Stranieri di Siena. She attended the University College of London for 9 months as Erasmus student. Thanks to several working experiences abroad, always in contact with public, she speaks English fluently. She worked as a translator and as Layout graphic designer before joining the team of CASA IN TOSCANA®.

Erica was born in Pisa. She is married and has two children. She has been working for CASA IN TOSCANA® since 2001. Graduate in Foreign Languages and Literature at the Università degli Studi di Pisa, she attended the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität of Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany) for 18 months as Erasmus student. She worked as a receptionist in hotels and as import-export employee in several firms. After a short experience as English and German teacher, she joined CASA IN TOSCANA® staff.
